Moving art, antiques, and collectible items requires extra care and attention. Not only are these items valuable, but they are also often extremely fragile. Robb and Messer Moving and Storage knows that these items are special to you, and getting them safely to your new home is our first priority.
A safe and smooth move starts with your in home consultation. At the time, identify any antique or heirloom items to us. Items requiring special care may include porcelain dishes and figurines, artwork (sculptures, drawings, and paintings), antique or heirloom household items, and antique furniture. We will work with you to formulate a plan for wrapping and transporting these items securely.
We are happy to wrap any items you need help with ourselves. However, if you prefer to do some of the work yourself to minimize costs and time on the actual moving day, here are some tips for securely packing your most valued items:
- Use professional grade packing supplies. Contact Robb and Messer for advice on what to purchase, and where. We also sell supplies.
- Some packing materials that may be helpful include double and triple walled boxes, stretch wrap, cushioned packing tape, fiberglass reinforced packing tape, archival quality tissue paper, and kraft paper.
- Proper labeling is essential. Using carton labels and thick permanent marker can help your instructions be easy identified. Some helpful notes may include “do not load/stack”, “fragile”, and “loose parts”.
- Moving valuable and sentimental items can be nerve-wracking. Let Robb and Messer guide you through the process with confidence.
